In Loving Memory of Wayne L. Cote
April 29, 1972 – November 1, 2025
Wayne L. Cote, 53, of Fitchburg, passed away on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at UMass Memorial Hospital – Leominster Campus, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.
Born and raised in Fitchburg, Wayne was the beloved son of the late Roger Cote and Jeannine (Bastarache) Cote. He was a proud member of Saint Joseph Parish and served as an altar boy during his youth. A 1991 graduate of Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School, he played both basketball and baseball and made lifelong friendships along the way.
After high school, Wayne became self-employed, operating Cote’s Variety and later 1st Choice Tree Service. He enjoyed traveling and spending time with his children. He had a great love for antique cars and was well known for cruising around in his hearse just for the fun of it. He also enjoyed local cruise nights at Kimball Farm and was a loyal Boston Bruins fan.
Wayne leaves behind his two children, Hannah M. Cote of Leominster and Connor R. Cote of Gardner; his brothers Steven R. Cote of Fitchburg, Rodney G. Cote of Leominster, and Scott M. Cote and his wife Vicki of Fitchburg; along with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews throughout Canada and Massachusetts. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Celebration of Life honoring Wayne will be held on
Sunday, December 7, from 12–4 p.m.
at the British American Club, 1 Simonds Rd., Fitchburg.,MA.
