William Francis Antoniac

WESTMINSTER - William Francis Antoniac (age 72) passed away on Sunday November 5, 2023 in Boston, MA surrounded by family after an illness.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Valerie (Spare) Antoniac; his children, Todd Antoniac, Beth (Antoniac) Waterhouse and husband Jonathan; grandchildren, Thea, Jackson, Grant and Thomas; sisters, Annette Griffith and husband Fred, and Sandra Ricci. He is pre-deceased by sister Judith Ledford. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was born on July 31,1951 in Shirley, MA, the son of William A and Barbara (Boughton) Antoniac.

He is a graduate of Lunenburg High School (class of 1969). In 1973, he married Valerie Spare in Fitchburg, MA.  In 1975, he moved to Westminster and enjoyed 45 plus years there.

He was a former union carpenter and then was employed as construction inspector for the US government.  He worked at Fort Devens in MA and retired from the Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT in 2008.

He was an enthusiastic fisherman and avid hunter. He enjoyed camping, going to the beach, playing cribbage, his winters in Englewood, FL, traveling and spending time at the Westminster Senior Center.

The family would like to thank Dr. Leah Biller at Dana Farber Cancer Institute, the Neuroscience ICU staff at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Hope Health Hospice for their compassionate care of William.

Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and remember William’s life on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 10am at the Lavery Chartrand Alario Funeral Home, 99 Summer St, Fitchburg MA. It will be followed by his funeral service at 11.
