William J. “Bill” Courtemanche Jr., 81, of Fitchburg, died Thursday morning May7, 2026.
He was born on January 17, 1945, in Greenville, South Carolina, the son of the late William J. and Alice E. (Lortie) Courtemanche and resided in Fitchburg. He graduated from St Bernards Central Catholic High School in 1962 and then went on to Becker Jr College and Clark University.
Bill worked at Worcester North Savings Bank for many years as Director of Human Resources. After many years in banking, he tried his hand at being a store owner and opened Court’s Casuals.He then went on to work at New England Keyboard in Human Resources until his retirement.
Bill was involved in helping to plan and execute many fundraisers throughout the years for schools and Churches. Another skill he had was landscaping and he used it to make his yard a sight for all to enjoy.
Bill loved spending time with his family and friends. Whether it was renting a house at the Cape, spending time at the pool, hanging out with his grand dog Sadie Mae, or watching his grandchildren playing their sports, he enjoyed every moment.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Judith (Mauro) Courtemanche, his son Michael A. Courtemanche and his wife Maria of Fitchburg, his daughter Kimberly A. Dee and her husbandMatthew of Fitchburg, three grandchildren, Nicholas Dee, Isabella Dee and Cameron Dee, alongwith several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the Visiting Nurses Association, Robinson and the rest of the staff at River Terrace, and all the doctors who helped to care for him throughout the years.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday May 16, 2026, at 10 A.M. at St Bernard Parish, 333 Mechanic Street, Fitchburg, MA. Inurnment will be at St. Bernard's Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital.The Lavery Chartrand Alario Funeral Home 99 Summer St. Fitchburg, MA is directing the arrangements.
